                                                               WINTER PARKING REMINDER

WINTER PARKING – In order to facilitate snow removal from public streets, alleys and parking lots, no vehicles shall be parked in these areas between the hours of 2:00 a.m. - 6:00 a.m. from November 1st to March 31st. Vehicles parked or left unattended in violation of the ordinance during plowing operations will be tagged and towed.

SIDEWALKS – It is the responsibility of the owner and/or occupant of all properties adjacent to a public sidewalk to remove all snow and ice within twelve (12) hours after its deposit. Failure to keep the sidewalk clear of snow and ice will result in the city having the sidewalk cleared and all costs billed to the property owner.

MAILBOXES – It is the policy of the City of Mora to replace any damaged mailbox that has been constructed according to the design recommended by the Minnesota Department of Transportation. This is a swing-away type installation that would prevent the mailbox from being damaged by flying snow from the snowplow. If a non-standard installation is damaged it may be replaced, at the option of the City, if the damage resulted from a direct hit of the plow and not the force of the snow. The City of Mora is not responsible for the removal of snow around mailboxes.

DO NOT plow, shovel, or blow snow onto a public street or sidewalk. Piles of snow deposited onto public roadways may re-freeze and create a significant hazard to the traveling public and future snow removal operations.

GARBAGE CANS and RECYCLING BINS should be placed approximately two feet behind the curb in the driveway. For safety reasons, plow operators cannot leave their vehicle to move these objects from the street.

PROTECT YOUR KIDS – It is dangerous for children to build snow forts in snowbanks along the street. Snowplow operators cannot always see children playing in or around such snow forts. Please remind your kids how to stay safe when the snowplows are in operation.

BE AWARE OF THE SNOWPLOW - Please pay attention to plowing and the snow removal equipment. Be a patient and observant driver to keep everyone safe and allow plenty of space between the snow removal equipment and yourself.
